Dr Andrew Corbett, adjunct lecturer in Hermeneutics (Bible Interpretation) at Tabor College Tasmania and President of ICI Theological College Australia, Pastor of Legana Christian Church
Andrew Corbett has Graduate level Advanced Certificates in Christian Doctrine, and Christian Mission from ICI University, (Springfield, Mi., USA), a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Emmanuel College, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Cambridge Graduate School. He is currently the Australian President of the Theological Distance Education College:ICI/Global College Australia, and the Senior Pastor of Legana Christian Church.
Born in Geelong, Victoria, Andrew was initially raised in a Methodist Church but then after his family relocated they began attending an Evangelical Anglican Church in Geelong where he was later Confirmed. It was during this time of Confirmation preparation that he came to saving-faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 15.
At the age of 16 he began seeking the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and received a Pentecostal experience.
That night the Lord gave him a burden for the nations. He soon commenced to evangelise in his native city of Geelong, Victoria. Within a few years, he had travelled around Australia street preaching.
In 1988 he married Kim! Together they ministered in Northern Victoria, then Melbourne. After pioneering a church in Melbourne, God spoke very clearly to Andrew about moving to Tasmania. At the time, Tasmania had the highest unemployment rate in Australia; the highest youth suicide rate in Australia; the highest welfare dependency of any state in Australia; and the highest negative population growth of any state in Australia. Now, these issues had largely turned around. God is moving in Tasmania!
Since September 1995 he has pastored Legana Assembly of God which has now become Legana Christian Church.
He has ministered in Keiv and Poltava (Ukraine); London (UK), Seville (Spain), Bali (Indonesia), Hanoi, Danang, Saigon (Vietnam), Johannesburg, Zimbabwe, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, Los Angeles, and around Australia.
He has a heart to impart to other churches and regularly shares with pastors looking for extra support.
His radio teaching programme, FINDING TRUTH MATTERS is heard across northern Tasmania, Australia, twice weekly and about to be aired across Australia. In June 2003 he was appointed as National President of ICI College Australia.
He enjoys reading good books, writing, and playing tennis (he is the club coach at the Legana Tennis Club). He is a fan of the greatest football team in the known universe: Geelong Cats (in the AFL). Kim and Andrew have 4 children ranging from 19 years old down to a glorious 4 year daughter (2010).
Along with several other Academics, Theologians, and Professionals, he was a founding member of the Tasmanian Family Institute- a family research think tank and social commentary organisation. This Institute was pivotal in changing some key public policy in the area of morality and family.
He is a husband, dad, preacher, teacher, and writer.
